Zak

Little  Zak turned 1 this week and I wanted to take a little while to get some shots of him.  I didn't get much time to shoot so I hope to get more next week.  One year olds are BUSY!  Here is the best one I got. 

I also did a shoot of Zak the day after he came home from the hospital.  Here are a few from when he wasn't so busy:)

Baby Steven

This is another one of my daycare babies who is brand new!  He was born on February 28th and I was lucky enough to get to take his pictures at 5 days new.  He is so sweet.

This is my favorite picture that I captured.  Shows off his chubby cheeks and I love the processing on this picture too!

Catching up...

So I guess I kinda fell off the wagon with the Project 52.  Maybe next year will be better.  Things just got so busy around here I forgot to post.  Anyway, I have been busy taking some shots.  I am so lucky to have a daycare full of kids who are perfect subjects! 

Here are some shots of my little daycare girl, Ruby.  She is so sweet and getting bigger every day.

SugarSnappers

This is my first chance to mess around with the Floored! collection from SugarSnappers.com.  I LOVE the idea behind them and have found them very simple to use although trying to go around all the futsy edges is not easy.  This floor is from The Dark Collection.  I think it turned out pretty great!

All I had for the floor was a smooth upholstery material (kinda leathery).  I just love this tutu and can't wait to work some more with these floors!

In beginning to learn about the business of photography a major portion of it is editing the pictures.  I have found a few great resources along the way and one of my FAVORITES is this site: The CoffeeShop Blog.  Whenever I am looking for textures, action or recipes for how to apply actions I go there.  The best part of it all is that it is absolutely FREE!

Project 52: Week 5

Here is my week 5 photo. It was one of a series that I took of my daycare baby. She is so sweet and precious I just adore her!

Greatest Compliment

As someone who isn't a professional photographer (yet!) I LOVE when people give me a compliment about the pictures I take. One of the greatest compliments that I feel they can give me right now is to make one of my photos their Facebook profile picture. Just to know that someone thinks the picture of their kid is so cute they want everyone to see it is an awesome feeling!

Yesterday when I emailed the sweet baby picture to my daycare baby's mom she told me she sent it out to EVERYONE in her email address book. That made my heart skip a beat. I am still working on taking compliments but I LOVE hearing things like that!

Project 52: Week 4

I am a day late but I took this yesterday. This picture is of my youngest playing hockey. I used the Pioneer Woman's action called 'Colorized' to edit it. I think it looks kind of neat with the red standing out.

Project 52: Week 3

Okay so I took this one a day early but I have to put this as my week 3 picture. We went to visit friends yesterday and meet their new sweet baby girl, Addison. She has a great big brother too, Jacob! I was doing some shots of Addison and asked Jacob to give her a kiss. Good thing I was ready with the camera because he wasn't about to do it again. It is one of the sweetest pictures I've ever taken!

Project 52: Week 2

I took this picture of my boys this week for Valentine's Day cards.

New Camera Bag

I acquired a new 55-100 mm lens for my camera back in October. At first I didn't use it much because I couldn't attach it to my camera and put it in my camera bag. Thus came my quest for a new bag to store my camera and now TWO lenses. I have been on a site called Clickin' Moms as a way to learn more about photography and someone mentioned etsy.com. OF COURSE! Duh! It was my a-ha moment and I was off in search of a fun new bag.

It took me a bit to find just the one I wanted. I didn't want to spend too much but had to have something that worked for all my equipment and maybe more. So I finally found this beauty by Janine King Designs. It is pretty and functional. The only thing I miss is having a zipper to keep things tightly secure. Oh well...so worth the pretty that I will learn to live without it!

Props

I am so excited I got these new headbands to use for props from Kamieo's Creations. You can find her on Facebook and Etsy. She had a 'comment game' on facebook where she posts a picture and then says comment #_ gets the item. Let me tell you it is quite addicting. Kind of like ebay only faster! I can't wait to use these!

Project 52: Week 1

So I am a little late getting this posted but here is my week 1 picture. It is a shot of a gorgeous mug that my mother-in-law bought me for Christmas to go in my kitchen. I have roosters in my kitchen as a decoration and it matches perfectly!

MCP Project 52

The goal is to take one picture every week and add it to the group. I had also read about a 365 where you take a different picture every day but I really don't know if I can commit to that much with the busy that is my life so I'm going to shoot for this one.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone! We spent New Year's Eve as a family and it was wonderful...plus no hangover the next day;) We did not make it to go see that new baby and try my first shoot because a couple of us were sick. Would have hated to pass a sickness along to their family. So maybe in a couple weeks.
